I come from a surfing and snowboarding background and only started mountain biking in 2008 after a friend of a friend invited me on a ride to give it a try, seeing as he was into the same other sports as me.
My first bike was a 2008 Giant Talon hardtail 2008. In 2014 I bought my first full suspension - a Giant Trance Advanced 3.
Shortly after, the MTB bug hit me hard.
Before, my mountain biking skills were just below average, I reckon. Some of my biggest challenges were drop offs and technical trails. I wanted to ride drops and just hated getting of the bike and stumbling down the rock face.
They were the most frustrating moments before the Groover Method – moments when I had to walk my bike over trail sections while other riders rode past me, and me just wishing I could ride like that.
So, what has the Groover Method taught me? Bloody hell where do I start...!
